The Middle East

I know I have hyped these guys before on here, just couldn’t find the precise blog post where.

An old friend of mine is the drummer in this exceptional band who has played with the likes of Mumford and Sons, Bon Iver etc.

They’re a large band who makes the most of a range of percussion instuments as well as an array of strings and brass.
All the musicians are talented, and from what I’ve heard most of them have stunning voices (I say most, as I have not heard all sing)

So, on Saturday, I had the pleasure of being their guest at Laneway Perth.
We were unsure whether or not they would be playing at all, as the poor guys got stranded at Adelaide Airport for 9 hours because of a faulty plane, but they managed to get to the festival some 20 minutes before they were due to start.
Amazing!

I got to watch these guys perform a pretty tight set, and singalong to some of my favourites.
The rest of the night was spent sitting in VIP watching the likes of Sarah Blasko and Florence and the machine, and catching up with my good friend Mike, before having to drop him off at the airport. True rockstar form, fly in, play show, fly out.

Expect some great things from this band, as they are heading to the states to record their new album, and will be there for a few months touring, before hitting Europe for a tour, then coming back to Australia to do another country wide tour.

Mike, see you in August when you hit Perth again.
This couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy.
All the best!

Hopefully the below works, otherwise check them out here
