Day 26 : Without them, where would I be?

Day 26- What you think about your friends

They are unique, they are loved.
They are funny, they are sincere.
They are reliable, they exude beauty.
They are spontaneous, they have integrity.
They are selfless, they are generous.
They are creative, they are smart.
They are caring, I can trust them.
They have amazing hearts.
They are my friends.

I love them very much.

So all i needed was some bribes?

You may have known or not that my parents have arrived for their annual family holiday with the kids..
the kids being my brother and myself, and annual.. well.. every Christmas we make an effort to come together, mostly either in Australia or in Qatar, although sometimes we venture to other continents.

They arrived on the 15th of November and leave on the 30th December.
Now I though that they wouldn’t be coming this time because my brother gets married in April and they are coming over for that.
HOWEVER my parents are relishing in the idea of TWO trips to Australia.

Lots of family time.

Now since we have just emerged out of winter, the garden had a much larger proportion of weeds than it normally does, and well to put it nicely, dad is a garden fanatic.

I spent the last three weekends prior to them arriving doing gardening.
I even held a GARDENING PARTY with some friends. We all had a good laugh at Fez who misread the invite and thought he was coming to a GARDEN Party, and came with his girlfriend in their Saturday best.

Here is something that sums up a little about growing up in Africa and my weed problems..

There was way too much KHAKI

Day 11- Another picture of you and your friends

Identified 3rd Brithday Party

Myself and the lovely Gaby, who is a friend and also one half of the combination who keeps my hair looking fabulous.

What do you do when you just found out one of your best friend’s mothers has just died unexpectedly whilst on holiday overseas.

She knows I can’t use my mobile at work, so all I get is a small email saying, “Mum’s died in Thailand. I’m going to be MIA for a while.”

So now what?

I wish I wasn’t at work right now, so I could be there for her.

The Beginning

Day 01- A recent picture of you and 15 interesting facts about yourself

I haven’t got any recent photos of me, that aren’t already on here, so this one will have to do, plus this guy is a legend!

15 Interesting Facts, let’s just be honest here, by the time you finish reading them, you’ll be ready for bed.

1. I don’t like drinking water, unless I’m extremely thirsty and it’s the only thing around, or if I’m playing sports.
I’d pick sparkling water over regular water any day, and dear Mr Bartender, it’s different from soda water!

2. My favourite vegetable is the potato, closely followed by the sweet potato.

3. I don’t like getting wet. I have to get my head in gear before taking the plunge. Once I’m in, I’m fine and happy and can stay in for hours.

4. I love the heat. I grew up in a country where it is 55 degrees celcius for 3 months of the year with 100% humidity.

5. Lately I’ve been wearing a lot of salmon coloured clothing, with is funny, because a lot of people think my name is pronounced Salmon.

6. I’m more of a crisp person than I am a chocolate person.

7. The reason why my best friend and I became friends in the first place was all because of a single song. A Weezer song, which was covered by Further Seems Forever… Anyone know their music?

8. Since I was so involved with my sport and had too many comittments and they didn’t have the special development programs that they have now, I nearly flunked out of school. Through a very hard decision, I managed to turn it around through moving to another country, and now I’m a high school teacher. Go figure.

9. I used to be able to speak 7 languages in varying degrees. However I’m terrible at 6 of them now due to no-one speaking them and me not being able to practice and have conversation in them.

10. I used to be obsessed with Schna naa, and my parents had no idea what it was, then one day I went mental pointing at the tv. It turns out that Schna naa was in fact the Pinocchio tv series in Afrikaans.

11. On the 9th of November, so in a few days, I will finally be eligible to apply for my Australian Citizenship.

12. I broke my first bone at the age of two, going over a tiny ramp off the verandah on my tricycle.

13. I’ve never been allowed to vote in any country that I have lived in, and I’ve lived on three seperate continents.

14. I seem to have way too many close calls with snakes, and sharks. That’s not even normal! I’m completely not a fan of this fact.

15. I honestly never thought my brother would get married before me, but it’s pretty much going to happy unless I shotgun it before the end of April. Yeah right!

Many many years ago, on this precise date, at exactly 10:30pm WAST, and 4:30pm in my city of origin, I was born.

Last night I went out with a few friends and hit the town.
It started off with a bbq, The Impregnator making Mojitos, most people trying to avoid drinking the carton of Export that a certain someone had brought, and everyone trying to avoid being captured in “natural” shots by our local paparazzi.

We then packed into vehicles and entered TIGER RRrrrrrrrILLS
Usually the music is decent.
It was decidedly terrible – borderling drum and bass.
There was a bongo player, who may have spotted me imitating him.
This resulting in me having to get up on the stage and drum.
At first I pretended that I was a clueless girl, and had no idea what to do, then I ripped it to shreds and he hastily shooed me off, before I outshone him.

I got prank phone called by some clearly bored friends in Melbourne… Thanks Stu!
Ate a very messy kebab, and crashed at a friend, as I didn’t have my car with me.

All in all a decent and pretty low key night.

Email Distractions..

Look who keeps me occupied and amused throughout the day…

Thank you..
